Marcus Hutchins at Expel described a Teams campaign impersonating IT help desk and delivering a fake PowerShell Cleaner MSI hosted on Azure. The loader, first built around July 28, 2026, can drop PhishLocker, a fake lock screen that Alt+Tab reveals as a borderless app.
GitHub said a Central US capacity failure on August 17 took down github.com, authentication, Actions, APIs, pull requests, issues, and Copilot for 7 hours and 47 minutes. CTO Vladimir Fedorov wrote that neither that incident nor the August 6 Actions failure was caused by a code or configuration change.
