Spoof Timezone Next · Last updated: July 9, 2026

Spoof Timezone Next is a Manifest V3 Chrome extension that overrides JavaScript Date and Intl APIs on web pages so websites see a timezone you choose instead of your system timezone. This privacy policy explains what data the extension handles and how it is used.

Data collection by the developer

The developer of Spoof Timezone Next does not collect, store, or receive any personal information on a developer-operated server. The extension does not include analytics, advertising, or tracking.

The developer does not:

  • Collect names, email addresses, or other personally identifiable information
  • Record your browsing history for analytics
  • Upload page content or browsing activity to developer servers
  • Sell or rent user data to third parties

Local storage

The extension stores settings locally on your device using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API. This may include:

  • Whether the extension is enabled
  • Timezone mode (fixed or random)
  • Selected IANA timezone (for example, Europe/London)
  • Site scope mode (all sites, whitelist, or blacklist)
  • A list of hostnames for whitelist/blacklist mode
  • Per-site spoof on/off overrides
  • Theme preference for popup and settings pages (light, dark, or system)

This data remains on your device and is not accessible to the developer.

On-page behavior

When spoofing is enabled for a page, the extension injects a script that patches JavaScript date and timezone APIs in the page context. This changes what websites can read through methods such as Intl.DateTimeFormat().resolvedOptions() and Date.prototype.getTimezoneOffset().

All processing happens locally in your browser. The extension does not send page content, timezone values, or browsing activity to any external server operated by the developer.

To decide whether spoofing should apply, the extension reads the hostname of the page you are viewing (for example, example.com). It does not collect full browsing history on a developer server.

Permissions

The extension requests only the permissions needed for its core functionality:

  • storage — save your extension settings and per-site preferences locally
  • tabs — read the active tab URL when you open the popup or use the keyboard shortcut, so spoofing can be toggled for the current site
  • activeTab — access the current tab only after you interact with the extension (popup or shortcut)
  • host access (http/https) — inject the timezone spoofing script on web pages you visit when spoofing is enabled for that site

Remote code

Spoof Timezone Next does not use remotely hosted code. All JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and images are bundled inside the extension package.

Data sharing

The developer does not sell, rent, or transfer user data to third parties. The extension does not communicate with external services.

Children's privacy

Spoof Timezone Next is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
