Data collection by the developer

The developer of TikTok Downloader Next does not collect, store, or receive any personal information on a developer-operated server. The extension does not include analytics, advertising, or tracking.

The developer does not:

• Collect names, email addresses, or other personally identifiable information
• Record your browsing history for analytics
• Upload downloaded files or page content to developer servers
• Sell or rent user data to third parties

Local storage

The extension stores settings locally on your device using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API. This may include:

• Whether the downloader is enabled
• Download button position on the page
• Theme preference (light, dark, or system)

This data remains on your device and is not accessible to the developer.

Third-party media resolution (tikwm.com)

To obtain fresh download links for TikTok media, the extension may send the current TikTok post URL you are viewing to the public third-party API at https://www.tikwm.com/api/. That service returns media URLs and basic metadata (title, author, available formats).

This request is made directly from your browser to tikwm.com. The developer does not operate tikwm.com and does not control how that service handles data. Please review tikwm.com's own terms and privacy practices if you have questions about their service.

On-page behavior

When enabled, the extension injects a Download button and menu on TikTok pages you visit. It reads media information from the open page and, when needed, from TikTok's embedded page data or network responses to build a list of download options.

When you choose a format, the extension starts a download through Chrome's built-in downloads API. Files are saved to your device in a TikTok Downloader Next/ folder. The developer does not receive a copy of downloaded files.

Permissions

The extension requests only the permissions needed for its core functionality:

• storage — save your extension settings locally
• downloads — save selected videos, music, or images to your device
• tabs — read the current tab URL when resolving media for the open TikTok post
• declarativeNetRequestWithHostAccess — temporarily set download request headers (such as Referer) so TikTok CDN links can be fetched reliably
• host access (TikTok & CDN domains) — show the Download UI on TikTok pages and fetch media files from TikTok-related hosts
• host access (tikwm.com) — resolve download links via the tikwm API when page data alone is insufficient

Remote code

TikTok Downloader Next does not use remotely hosted code. All JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and images are bundled inside the extension package.

Data sharing

The developer does not sell, rent, or transfer user data to third parties. The only third-party communication initiated by the extension is the optional request to tikwm.com described above, made to resolve download URLs for the TikTok post you are viewing.

Copyright notice

TikTok Downloader Next is a convenience tool. You are responsible for complying with TikTok's Terms of Service and applicable copyright laws. Only download content you have the right to save.

Children's privacy

TikTok Downloader Next is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
